IB Economics is a subject about economics on IB program student will familiar with business form in microeconomics and macroeconomics, beside that student will learn about specialized terms, analyze merchandising, analyze data and index.

IB program include 2 levels: High Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) so in each level student will have different hard level of topic

  • Section 1: Microeconomics – 35 hours for SL and 95 hours for HL

  • Section 2: Macroeconomics – 40 hours for SL and 50 hours for HL

  • Section 3: International economics – 25 hours for SL and 45 hours for HL

  • Section 4: Development economics – 30 hours for SL and HL

Inside that on high level will have some topics added:

  • Section 1: Competitive markets: Demand and Supply, Government Intervention, Market Failure, Theory of the Firm and Market Structure 

  • Section 2: Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply, Macroeconomics Objectives

  • Section 4: The role of international trade 

In the process student in two levels have to do an essay base on each different part of the textbook, no longer than 750 words.
